Mrinal Debbarma

MRINAL DEBBARMA (born on 3rd January 1989) is a celebrated Kokborok Movie Director. He is well known for the fabulous work he had done in the movie ‘IMANG’ (which means Dream) in 2016 as a director. Also the movie was released in 3 series : Imang 1, Imang 2, Imang 3. He is one of the top film makers in Tripura.

EARLY AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE:
Mrinal Debbarma was always keen about films and videos right from a very young age. He discovered his love film making when he was assigned to shoot a video in a marriage ceremony of one of his family member. His dedication hard work and love for films had landed him to film making. His films are celebrated among the people of Tripura and he aims to abolish the differences between the Tribal and Non-Tribal by delivering movies to inspire the youth to stay in peace and harmony.

Biography:
Mrinal Debbarma was born on 3rd January 1989 in Pekuarjala, Shipahijala District. His father Rabindra Debbarma was a Farmer and Mother Kubjarani Debbarma a housewife. He has an elder brother who is currently serving in defence. He had done his schooling from Sepahijala School and his Highest qualification is Masters in Commerce. He is currently working as an accountant apart from being a film maker. He had also done a course on film making to gain more knowledge amd move forward towards his goal to be a film maker. He was always very passionate about making film and debuted with a comedy genre movie called IMANG. One of his favorite bollywood movie from where he started taking interest in films is Sholey. His other favorite Kokborok movies are ‘Langmani Haduk’ and ‘Yarwng’. In future he aspire to make a bengali movie where he would try to bring up the conflict between the Tribal and Non Tribal to show how the differences are resulting in the decline in overall growth of the state of Tripura. He also wants his movies to reach different types of audience from over the states so that they come to know the culture of the people living in Tripura.

Mrinal Debbarma started his career as a film maker from 2016. He had directed in all total 4 movies, namely - IMANG-1(2016), IMANG-2 (2017), YEPRI (2019), IMANG-3 (2021). His movies got alot of recognition as the actor from his movie IMANG 2 Mr. Abhishek Debbarma was nominated for the beat actor award in the kokborok film festival 2018, also Dr. Bpasha Reang received the Best Female Singer award for the song ‘oh-mokol-tangui-asuk’ from the movie IMANG-2 in the Kokborok Film Festival 2018. Mrinal Debbarma had also worked in several video albums as a director such as- 1.Nwng gana tongkhe 2.oh khapangni toksha 3.imango phai wi 4.muitu tongkhu 5.mwnai oh mwnai 6.kothor hai gelewi thangkha 7.Sai kwlangdi nwng anu. He is the founder of Shine Film Production which is located in Nandan Nagar, behind UFC godown, Indranagar, Agartala, Tripura. It is one of the biggest production agency in northeast. He is also the Asst. General Secretary of All Tipra Artist Association(ATAA).
